Simon Hallworth and Roger Martin are experienced master thatchers have been working together for over 20 years.
We use traditional methods and materials locally grown wheat reed and imported water reeds covering all types of roofs from 900 year old farmhouses in mid Devon to new builds and extensions ranging from individual home owners to local authorities, the National Trust and many architects and builders.
Our work was featured in Thatched Living, as part of an article on the replica cob and thatch home of Dr Tim Bunker.
This is a showpiece home which demonstrates the way a modern home can be built to emulate the classical style of construction typical throughout the UK.
"The Bunkers wanted a traditional “chocolate box” Devon cottage. They both love thatch and they wanted to be in a village as near to the Exe estuary as possible, as Tim, a sailor, loves to be near water and the sea was too far away as he is required to live within 10 miles of the hospital where he works."
